All types of endoscopes must be carefully cleaned before being placed in an endoscope reprocessor (EWD/AER). The manual cleaning consists of the following steps:

• The ‘Bedside Cleaning’ starts immediately after the endoscopy procedure and before the endoscope is disconnected from the processor.
• With OLYMPUS® endoscopes, the air/water channel should be flushed with the cleaning adapter.
• The endoscope should be completely submerged in a cleaning detergent.
